| WHEN THERE ARE PROBLEMS |

The truth is, most of us don't enjoy good colon health.
How can you tell if you've got healthy elimination? Click here.
If your elimination isn't as good as that, then you've got problems. And don't feel that you're alone,
because most people on the typical American diet have problems right along with you.
So why worry? Because a clogged-up colon can cause serious health problems, including:
- Appendicitis—One of the most common abdominal emergencies here in the U.S. It has been estimated that more than 300,000 appendices are removed each year in this country.
- Diverticulitis—or diverticulosisis—are now the most common disorders of the large bowel in the United States. (insert pic). More than one-third of people over 40 and up to two-thirds of those who are over 80 years of age have the condition. It is extremely painful and often gets to the point that people undergo surgery for relief. The colon works best when wastes are squashy and soft, since it moves rapidly through the bowel and is eliminated within a day and a half. Today’s common diet takes approximately three to four days for elimination. When there is too little fiber, the stool becomes smaller. To move this compacted waste material, the colon’s muscles must struggle to pass it through. Pressure develops along the colon. If infection develops in these pockets, diverticulitis occurs.
- Hemorrhoids—we hardly need to tell you how painful these can be. (insert pic) Again, sales for over-the-counter remedies amount to millions. Hemorrhoids are essentially varicose veins or swollen blood vessels of the rectum. The hemorrhoidal veins are located in the lowest area of the rectum and the anus. Sometimes they swell, so that the vein walls become stretched, thin and irritated by passing hardened bowel movements. Better elimination can help with these, much better than surgery! Nearly half the population over 50 suffers from hemorrhoids. It has long been known that constipation causes and worsens hemorrhoids. A dry, hard, compacted stool causes considerable strain for evacuation. This strain causes increased pressure in the veins, resulting in a ballooning and breakdown of the vein wall.
- Benign Tumors—Have been reported in 1/3 of all autopsies done on patients over the age of 20. What's to worry? Maybe nothing, but then again, colon cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the United States.
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Ulcerative Colitis
- Crohn's disease
And these are just the gastrointestinal problems that directly result from a clogged colon! Other health
conditions are also related to constipation, including:
- Hypertension
- Atherosclerosis
- Aneurysm
- Stroke
- Heart Attack
- Varicose Veins—Estimated to effect 10-20% of all adults in our society. One researcher has stated that over half of all urbanized Western people would develop varicose veins if they lived long enough.
- Deep Vein Thrombosis—Is believed to occur in 20-30% of all surgical patients and in over 40% of those undergoing major surgery.
- Pulmonary Embolism
- Diabetes—Especially Diabetes Mellitus, type II—"adult onset diabetes."
Statistics estimate that 3-10% of the population eventually develops known diabetes and that many more have
it but are never diagnosed.
- Gall Stones—Found in over 10% of all autopsies.
- Kidney Stones
- Obesity
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Autoimmune disease
- Pernicious Anemia
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Psoriasis
- And possibly many more chronic health conditions.
How can you tell you're having problems? Here are typical symptoms:
- constipation
- abdominal pain
- feeling of incomplete evacuation after defecation
- urgency
- loose or runny stools
- mucus in stool
- hard fecal matter
- straining to eliminate
- bloating
- heartburn
