CORNSILK
|
Hutchens in Indian Herbology of North America writes, "Herbalists and naturopaths think first of corn silk when dangerous deposits of brick dust are present in the urine and for removing the condition which is responsible for the disturbance in cystic irritation due to phosphatic and uric acid buildup."
Similarly, Santillo writes, "Corn silk is used in irritated kidney and bladder conditions. It has the ability to remove gravel from the kidneys, bladder and prostate gland. . . .It is good used in combination with other kidney herbs when the urinary tract needs opening up. . . ."
The Encyclopedia of Medicinal Herbs says, "Partly due to its significant potassium content, corn silk is a useful diuretic for almost all problems of the urinary system. . . . .is thought to have a beneficial effect on the kidneys, reducing kidney stone formation and relieving some of the problems of existing stones."
